Mooseworld was established in 1999 by a college professor for a course on e-commerce. The goals were to have a professional-looking site that could be used as a teaching device and to see if it could rank first in search results. Our awards page shows that both goals were accomplished.
The subject of moose was chosen since we like them and they offer a metaphor for peace and civility.
For several years Mooseworld had elements of e-commerce, befitting its original purpose. Mooseworld is now a purely nonprofit site.
Most of our own moose viewing has been in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in particular in Grand Teton National Park. Our pages are filled, however, with reports of moose sightings in the Western and Eastern United States, Canada and several countries of Europe.
Our logo comes from an original artwork created for the owners of this site by the noted artist and author Harriet Peck Taylor.
