Born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1964, Jeff grew up with a love for fishing, the outdoors and art. He attended Howell Cheney Technical School in Manchester where he started his training as a machinist and toolmaker. Working in the trade for over 20 years Jeff pursued painting whenever he could, taking classes in painting from artists Beth Ellis, Jim Wilcox, Luke Frazier and Dave Wade, studying many art books and painting on location.

In 2005 Jeff moved to the Flathead Valley in Montana to be closer to the wildlife, mountains and the Western art world.
