"I was in Grand Teton National Park over the Columbus day holiday and saw a number of different moose. As you can see in the first picture, this moose was crossing the road at the aptly named "Moose Junction." The picture of the big bull moose is across the street from Jackson Lake Lodge and this moose was feeding in the marsh. The baby moose was in the same area but a little closer to the dam. The Tetons in the Fall are always great for moose viewing and this trip was no exception.

Teton Village: This female moose and her offspring live near our house on Granite Ridge ... We have seen this pair near our house nearly every day. They are often standing near the ski trail behind our house. We hope never to find them standing on the trail when we are coming home. They are not afraid of passing cars or barking dogs. P.S. My kids ran out with their grandfather to take pictures before I could stop them. They probably should not have gotten so close. The mother is standing on the the hill on the left side in the bottom right image, while her young stands on the ski trail."
"I live near Hoback Junction, eight miles south of Jackson Hole and just the other day my roommates and I noticed two moose in our yard. We believe them to be a Momma and a yearling! We often see then grazing trees in our yard but recently we heard a huge thud on our porch during the night and looked out to find the momma moose using our porch to try to reach a tree branch. I couldn't help but open the door and stick my arm outside to try and grab a picture but it was too dark so I gave up and we all sat by the window gawking in amazement! She is so beautiful! Her yearling, though also gorgeous, is completely bald on her rump and I was wondering if this is normal. It looks as if she has a parasite or disease and was wondering if she's okay or if I should contact someone? I do have some pictures from afar that I could send if you would like to see them. I also wanted to tell you that I was researching this and came upon your site and think that it's WONDERFUL! Thanks for all you do and take care! Molly."
"I was up in Grand Teton National Park over the Columbus day holiday and the moose were out in force. I had a "moose encounter" where one big bull walked right towards me while I was standing next to some Aspen. I got some great shots and didn't disturb the moose. He just walked on by without even noticing me (I think) and he walked away into the willows.
I saw the moose at Oxbow Bend and the moose in question was in the middle of the river/bend. I decided to get a little closer look by going down a short trail to the river's edge and as I was walking down, the moose went out of site. To my surprise, he came ashore just downstream from where I was standing and he started walking towards me along the bank. I stood next to a few aspen and he walked right by me (within 10-20 yards). The whole time, I was taking photos with a digital binocular camera that I had and so I have a "play by play" of what happened. It was an experience that I will never forget! Jeff."

"Thank you so much for your information you sent me earlier. I ended up going to Grand Teton National Park as I did not find any moose in Yellowstone. Below is my happy encounter with the moose on Gros Ventre road, as well as the pictures that I promised.
After searching high and low for moose, I almost stumbled on a young (?) bull, two cows and a calf who had bedded down for the day. After cautiously walking around, I started taking pictures even though the bull was hardly visible through the grass and the cows even less so. Two of the cows decided to stand up, whether to stretch, or to get a better look at the photographers I'm not sure. I decided to wait and see if the bull would stand when suddenly, one of the trees behind the bull, which had been gnawed on by the local beavers, fell, startling the moose (and all others present). Thankfully all those present were not very close to the moose and so did not make him more nervous and he quickly settled back down. However, many people got some good pictures of both him and the rest of his little family before he laid back down.
I was quite far away for safety, so the quality of the pictures are not my best. Hopefully, the last picture, showing the tree that fell, will show you how far away I was. Hillary."

"This is a picture of our first bull moose our family has ever seen. We were driving in to the south entrance of Yellowstone when I thought I caught a glimpse of him on the side of the road. I thought it was my eyes playing tricks because, surely, there would be groups of people on the side of the road already. Well, I asked Dear Hubby to flip the vehicle around, just to make sure. I was right! We had him to ourselves, even if it was just for a few moments, until the other vehicles stopped to see what we were looking at! Seeing him made our day! Enjoy! The Hunt Family."
