INTRODUCTION

This was our third trip to Colorado this year to visit the moose. For starters it was very cold, Thanksgiving Day being the coldest, at times reaching -16 degrees before the windchill. These low temperatures and high winds made it very difficult to take photos. Using numb hands the camera wouldn't always cooperate most of the mornings.

I got up at about 6:00 every morning to head out and track moose. Most every morning I got lucky and spent up to four hours watching these animals. Normally they would be feeding when I came across them, after that they would sit themselves down for most of the day. In fact I could go back eat and warm up just to return to the same area hours later and find them still at rest.

The one afternoon I came across eight bulls, two of them already looked as though they had lost their antlers. The one bull acquired the name from my daughters, "Eliot," like the one antlered deer in the movie Open Season because the palm of his antler was missing. In all it was a great trip and I look forward to my return in the spring to Grand County, Colorado!
